LFK 's Faculty

As a parent you only want the best for your kids, and in the course of things you become irrational about who has to suffer just to insure that your kids get the best of everything. I used to take pride in myself that even though i am an involved mother who wanted the best for her kids , I still considered the welfare of the group and not only my little ones .However , all of that changed when my kids were in LFK. See..... the staff in the Lycee francais de koweit is varied, some of them are more or less qualified than others , but that is not the key.this is usually the case in all schools but all of them have to follow guidelines and conform to the coordinated minimum acceptable level applied by the level coordinator whose job is to insure all students moving from this class to the next have achieved certain benchmark goals .Of course there will be the personal edge of a certain educator and his specific method combined with the dynamics of the group he has on a specific school year that might dictate a higher achieving class but there shold be no student ( let alone entire classes) falling below the line. In the absence of such guidelines and/or consequences each teacher delivers the curricullum at his/her own pace and with her own vision creating huge gaps between the students in the same class level. So if your son/ daughter happens to be with a teacher who does not like to teach 4th grade math he might not get enough of it. There is no horizontal or vertical coordination and each section at any given level is totally different according to the personal preferences and human caprices of its teacher. The gap varies from simple individual strenghts and weaknesses to subject matters being as much as two levels below the curriculum benchmark.therefore at the end of the three years i spent in LFK , i became this monster of a mother who would do whatever so my son/daughter gets the good teacher and some other child gets the lazy , uncaring one who stayed year after year for lack of accountability or follow up. I hated Myself for it.

TIP.   you can gain your spot in the good teacher class if you befriend one of the many administrative staff who seem to be able to do wonders for their friends...

  1. Today was the first day for my son in an American Curriculum School in Kuwait and it was an amazing rentree.they actually gave me checklist about my kids personality and study habbits to match him with a teacher that will work best with him. Being finally free of this nightmare, I found myself comparing all aspects of the two schools and thought to myself i will not let another parent fall in this trap therefore i decided to start this blog.
